Served as the principal organizer of the workshop on “Twenty Years of South African Constitutionalism: Constitutional Rights, Judicial Independence,
and the Transition to Democracy,” at New York Law School. The three-day workshop brought together close to 200 presenters
and commentators from South Africa, the United States, and elsewhere for wide-ranging discussions in approximately 45 separate sessions, and will result in two issues of next year’s New York Law School Law Review (November 2014).
Continued to lead scholarly workshops, chairing the Clinical Theory Workshop, which
met three times in fall 2014, co-chairing the South Africa Reading Group, which also met three times that semester, and also serving as a co- organizer of the NYLS Pedagogy Discussion Group (Fall 2014).
Panelist, plenary session titled “Nelson Mandela, Law and the Quest for Equality” at the Law and Society Association’s Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota ( June 2014).
Participated in the National Symposium on Experimental Education in Law at Elon University. Served on the Alliance for Experimental Learning in Law Steering Committee and as the moderator of two plenary sessions: one discussing cost and sustainability, and the other discussing approaches from other disciplines, such as medicine, business, technology, and design, Elon, North Carolina
( June 2014).
Service
Participated, along with Dean Crowell and others, in the work of the New York State Law School Veterans’ Consortium, prepareda“Toolkitfor Veterans Programs” as part of that effort, and helped organize the Veterans Justice Clinic, in which NYLS students will work on veterans’ issues at Legal Services NYC under
the supervision of Legal Services attorneys who are now members of NYLS’s adjunct faculty (Fall 2014).
