In the past year, NYLS welcomed on campus a wide range of influential leaders in the law, reflecting its place in the community to foster thought-provoking dialogue across a diverse population. in September 2014, nYlS welcomed house minority leader nancy Pelosi as keynote speaker at the Sidney Shainwald Public Interest Lecture. Leader Pelosi spoke about a wide range of topics, including the financial crisis of 2008, and the deployment of american troops to fight iSiS.
in october 2014, nYlS showcased its “Titans of Sports” featuring Marc Lasry ’84, co-owner of the milwaukee bucks; vincent viola ’83, owner of the florida Panthers, and Zygi wilf ’74, owner of the minnesota Vikings. in 2014, mr. lasry and mr. Viola were both named to Forbes magazine’s 400 richest People in america.
in January 2015, Preet bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, addressed a full house as a featured speaker for the Center for New York City Law’s cityLaw breakfast Series and spoke about public corruption and the impact it has on government integrity and accountability.
