As the legal profession adapts to a structurally changed marketplace, NYLS is staying ahead of the curve by continuing to align its courses and adapt its programs and services to meet the needs of the new marketplace. We are focusing on key areas of employment and growth in the local and global economies including: business and financial services; intellectual property, media, technology, and applied sciences; and government and public interest.
these efforts are yielding results. For the class of 2014, 40 percent of the class secured legal jobs in law firms, another 40 percent found them within business and industry, and 20 percent entered the public sector including government, non-profits, and judicial clerkships. nearly nine percent of the class of 2014 secured jobs as compliance officers in this fast growing sector of the financial services industry.
