The InnovatIon Center for Law and teChnoLogy is a cross-disciplinary program that addresses technology’s out-sized impact on law and society.
Our doctrinal fields of study include intellectual property (including copyright, patent, and trademark law), privacy, data security, and internet law. The Innovation Center also focuses on legal and policy issues in information technology, applied sciences, fashion, media, entertainment, and associated industries. We also address social concerns related to technology, including online harassment and cyberbullying.
The goals of the Innovation Center are:
• To provide opportunities for New York Law School students and faculty to study the fields of intellectual property, privacy, and technology law;
• To advance student knowledge in these fields;
• To provide ways to connect students and faculty to industry and practice groups;
• To engage in the development of the law in our areas of expertise; and
• To engage with the community to address gaps in the law and ensure access to justice.
The Innovation Center is powered by $1 million in alumni donations including a generous lead gift of $750,000 from Diane and Arthur N. Abbey ’59, Chairman of the NYLS Board of Trustees. The Abbeys are visionary leaders who understand the symbiotic relationship between law and technology.
We thank them and all our supporters for their generosity.
